Love drives out hate, right?
Unfortunately I think we have veered well passed the dream of love winning over hate. People who want to hate others will always find a reason to hate.
Jesus tried to live out a message of love and kindness; people hated Him for it, so they killed him. MLK brought the same message of peace and love; people hated what he stood for so they killed him.
Some people will always hate what is different and will never spend time trying to understand the differences; instead they will spew hate which will lead to inevitable violence and the cycle will go on and on and on, until human kind ceases to exist.
I believe that we are all on this earth to learn a lesson; a lesson of acceptance, patience, kindness, and love toward others. Unfortunately we are failing at a record pace. Everyone has opinions, but no one offers solutions. We take sides and further exasperate the problem.
Violence has existed since the beginning of man and will remain until the last person on this earth gives up their last breath. There is no bill, no law, and no magic word that can end hate. If the heart is full of hate, there is no room for love.
This week, I’ve been angry, I’ve been saddened, and I’ve been embarrassed by the words and actions of many. My friends, family, and neighbors are all strangers today. Today, there is no one to blame but myself. I am a part of the problem and so are you.
